I am always excited about Indonesian movie
maker that his or her film succeeds to go abroad. That makes me proud of and
keeps my hope intact about the future of
Indonesian film. The Raid, Don't Talk Love, Lovely Man are good examples of
this. Since I watched The Raid, I will always anticipate the next movie that
has international scope but includes Indonesian's works. You can call it
nationalism haha.
So, V/H/S 2 is one of my anticipated movie. Yes, the only
reason why I wanna see this movie is just want to see 'Safe Haven' segment on
it. Safe Haven is the works of collaborated Timo Tjahjanto and Gareth Evans.
Timo is a unique and antimainstrem Indonesian director. His good debut is
'Dara' that gives its main lead actrees, Shareffa Danish, won an award from
Korean FilmFestival (I'm sorry if I'm mistaken). Timo usually works with his
brother,Kimo, but in V/H/S 2 he worked alone. Gareth Evans, well, not an
Indonesian director, but we Indonesian movie lovers thanks him so much because
his amazing work, The Raid. The Raid is an Indonesian movie even it was
directed by British director. Yeah, I feel right about Gareth Evans is British
outside, but pure Indonesian inside. Okay, stop talking about this.
